The Black Empowerment Chamber of Commerce aims to foster the growth, success, and empowerment of Black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs across Massachusetts by providing technical assistance, advocating for the elevation of the Black business economy, and securing consistent, diverse and equitable funding opportunities for all.
To create a thriving economic ecosystem where Black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs in Massachusetts have access to resources, support, and opportunities to flourish, contributing significantly to economic growth and prosperity for all.
Develop comprehensive technical assistance programs catering to the specific needs of Black-owned businesses as well as building meaningful partnerships with existing technical assistance initiatives and managing a robust referral program to maximize programmatic accessibility.
Advocate for policies and initiatives that elevate and support the Black business community in municipal and statewide efforts.
Identify and secure funding opportunities specifically tailored for Black-owned and allied businesses.
Phase 1 (Year 1: 2024):
Conduct needs assessments, establish partnerships, and create the framework for technical assistance initiatives and referral programs, start identifying funding sources, conduct membership drives and officially launch the BECC by December 2024.
Phase 2 (Year 2-3: 2025 - 2026 ):
Launch tailored technical assistance programs, initiate advocacy campaigns, align municipal procurement opportunities with BECC members, and secure funding from multiple public and private sources across Massachusetts.
Phase 3 (Year 3-5: 2026 -2028):
Scale up assistance programs, intensify advocacy efforts, and secure funding partnerships to ensure sustained support and growth for Black-owned businesses from federal and international sources.
The Black Empowerment Chamber of Commerce has a local, regional, state, national, and international vision for sustainable economic development for the global African Diaspora
The Black Empowerment Chamber of Commerce requires a minimum of $350,000 to operate in its first year, while achieving its full potential would necessitate a fully funded program costing $1.2 million.
Through a combination of tailored technical assistance, dedicated advocacy, and strategic funding initiatives, the Black Empowerment Chamber of Commerce aims to empower and elevate the Black business community across Massachusetts, fostering an inclusive and thriving economic landscape for all.
